Yea, Yea, I know it’s not Saturday…but I started this drawing on Saturday, so that qualifies!
Above, is the inspiration picture for this drawing. Found on pinterest, but the website [here], doesn’t take you to the artist. So I don’t know who to give credit to for this.
Contour drew everyone in….and embellished where I could.
My favorite combination: Markers and watercolor. Markers for the skin and the rest watercolor.
Just tried to make the colors sloppy….and swirly. I wanted some white space to show thru.
Added a winter hat to the guy (he turned out to be my favorite in this), and made the lady on the left give the Louisville sign.
Soon, I got to the details….the fun and flowery details. What really makes this work is when I keep things loose. Meaning……keep some circles open, let the lines overlap.
Had to do something with those mouths!! They were huge! I opted out of drawing lips…lips are Hard! I went in and made all the mouths gray. Well, big mistake… everyone looked half-dead. So then, I went over the gray and gave everyone white teeth. Teeth so white it would make any dentist proud!
Just fun!! I love how the blue lady looks like Janis Joplin…..too funny 
Wow! Another year has flown by…in my head it feels like it’s only September.
It’s time for me to be accountable. Accountable to myself. Because if I’m not happy with my choices, I’ll bet ya two dollars no one else will be. Or care for that matter.
I believe we become what we think about….what we work on….what we spend our time doing. What else is there to living? Our choices are either productive or passive. We are either moving forward or standing still. Might as well learn a thing or two along the way.

We learn so much from others! Especially our contemporaries. So many ways to do art, to express yourself, to hone your skill.
2- Completed 4 Graphite Sketches
I love graphite, but get bored starring at black, white and "50 shades of gray" all day.

Being rather high-energy, having a portable project calms me down.
4- Added 5 birds to my Bird Series
I guess you can tell by now…that I like to categorize people. Probably not totally fair to them but it keeps me entertained. However, it’s the ones I can’t figure out that bug me!
5- 16 Whimsy artsy drawings
Sometimes, I wake up….and I know what I will draw that day. I guess I only woke up inspired 16 times this year! Haha

I almost gave up colored pencils….This is the whole reason I decided to take a drawing class.
7- 3 Watercolor Sketches
Lots of plusses to watercolor…..best used for color-flow sketches. I find it very unpredictable. But adore it’s vibrancy.

I should really explore this avenue more.

Well, there you have it, what I’ve been up to this year. I’ve found that if you want to learn something new, you will find a way to work it in.
I adore the pictures that I see of Amsterdam…..Talk about a city with character and history! No, I’m not talking about the red light district here, c’mon!
To prove that I know what I’m talking about, here’s a picture of me with my sister in ‘96 in Amsterdam. What struck me the most about this city is how old it is. I was amazed when we went to an old book store and the concrete steps leading into the store were worn down by inches in the middle, from the amount of foot traffic those steps have had over the years no…..centuries.
I thought this would be a fun picture (from flickr) to try to draw…..TRY being the operative word here. I just have no interest in drawing straight lines like you see in ALL….THOSE….WINDOWS! I don’t have the patience to make it exact and it would bug me if I didn’t get it right. So, I opted for a more whimsical version.
Having decided I wasn’t going to make it realistic at all, I grabbed those wonderful stencils and just stenciled up all three townhouses.
The townhouses needed a little texture so I used these three doodle patterns for their background.
If I could do it all over again, I wouldn’t put that stupid white bubble in there. Ah, well.
Grabbed my favorite watercolor pencils to add some reflection to the water.
Here’s the scanned picture. This was a nice piece to just sit back and color. Well, it’s not much, but at least I drew and doodled today! LOL!!
