Fruits of the Spirit…..

I came across THIS picture on pinterest which inspired me to write on rocks.  Purchased this bag of rocks from a local discount home store at a whopping $1.99.

Grabbed my Dr.Ph.Martin’s Pen-white liquid paint to write with.  I like this brand, because it’s a bit chalky….thicker.

Grabbed my tiniest brush and proceeded to write.  I had to apply a 2nd coat because one coat just wasn’t enough.

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

Wrote out the fruits…these 9 first.

But I had 15 more rocks to write on.   So, I added a few more to the list:
Initial Fruits:
  • Love
  • Joy
  • Peace
  • Patience
  • Kindness
  • Goodness
  • Faithfulness
  • Gentleness
  • Self-Control
Added these to the list:
  • Honor
  • Humor
  • Grace
  • Return
  • Respect
  • Give
  • Donate
  • Gratitude
  • Encourage
  • Honesty
  • Thanks
  • Humility
  • Compassion
  • Forgive
  • Hope
Cuz….well, I like these words too…especially when I can experience these from others….or display.  Cuz sometimes I forget.

And the greatest of these is LOVE.

Placed them all in a glass bowl to be seen daily…cuz Lord knows I need it Smile

And if you’re not so inclined to write out these words you can do your own version….like: Art words, Inspiration words, Funny words, Spanish words.  So many words, so many options!!!

Keep Calm and….

Gave the “Keep Calm” sign to a friend over a year ago when she had a little girl-gathering.  As girls being girls….we got a little carried away.

Did a contour drawing with some creative enhancements!

I’ve been wanting to do this caricature for quite awhile…but I needed to do my homework.

I had to find out a little more about these lovely ladies and incorporate it into the sketch.

Possibly this would have been a better Halloween post, cuz aren’t we all just a bunch of characters?

There’s the Hawaiian Dancer, the Lady Golfer, the Taxi Mom, the Dental Hygienist, the Bat-girl, the Dancer, the Pharmacist, the IU and the Alabama Cheerleaders and The Queen of our Hearts.  It’s all in good fun….just hope I don’t offend anyone.

Foto MisFits

These are a bunch of hodge-podge photos that didn’t make it into a blog post. Possibly because there were too many pictures posted already or the shot was taken after the fact. Or….It’s a random picture and it wasn’t blog worthy!

Freehand Florals

When doing my bathroom upgrade last week, I ended up with 50 gallons of water in my basement.  No worries, it’s all dry now.  So, I’ve been in sort, toss and organize mode lately which has left me little time for drawing.

I did manage to work in my 8x5 moleskine while out and about.

I had a couple guidelines that I tried to follow:
  • Only Freehand Flowers
  • Outline heavy in Black at the round parts, making an exaggeration of the flower petals.
  • Outline again with primary flower color
  • Finished off each flower with another exaggerated Black outline flower petal.

I didn’t want to make the flowers too small, so I didn’t draw too many in the white space.  My plan was to add-on to the flowers that were already drawn in order to fill up the white space.

No real method to the colors here….just tried not to lump the same colors together.

Love the vibrancy of Markers!!  Who can agree?

Decorating….a Small Bathroom

Bath1

People have been wondering what I’ve been up to lately….Well, it was time to do something about this College-looking bathroom.  That pedestal sink didn’t leave me much room for storage.

Bath2

Scored the old wallpaper then proceeded to remove…..joy!

That wallpaper has been up since at least ‘98 when we bought this house.  As you can see, it was a bear to scrape off.  The existing paper and paste had settled in quite comfortably and did not want to be removed.

I came across this embossed paintable paper from Lowes.  I was a little scared to hang it since I’ve never done any wallpapering before (other than borders).  It had a bit of a learning curve but it went up very easily.  They say you don’t even have to paint the paper but I went with a light yellow.

Had a little bubble in the second long sheet of paper I put up which I couldn’t remedy…..so I just placed a “happy” sign in front of it Smile

Changed out the fixtures to polished nickel and thought this light fixture was pretty cool.

Bath7

Wanted to use red as an accent, so this little Red-Man found at TJ Maxx fit nicely.  Since the paper is thick and it butted up to the end of the wall where it turns, I put up one of those plastic guards on the edge of the wall so the paper won’t peel back or rip.

I love the cubby-rage that all the stores are endorsing, and these fabric cubby’s fit perfectly in the open area of the vanity under the drawers.

Bath9

Ta-Da!!  This whole project was completed in well under $1000.  I feel so grown-up now!

P.S.  I’m working on a new portable project, so I should have some fun doodles to post soon Smile

About Me

My photo
By day...I work in the Healthcare field, where every .. i.. has to be dotted and every ..t.. has to be crossed. This blog is the place where I can let myself go and have some fun. I am on a journey. A journey I started a long time ago, but it has been a bit sidetracked with Navy Wife relocations and raising kids. I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and I have got some time for me. No, I will not be one of those moms walking around the house with Empty Nest Syndrome, I have got way too much to do, to learn, to create. Sure, once the kids are gone I will miss them....but hey, there is always the phone, the email, the texting and the Plane tickets! I love my life and my family and It is fun moving into this new stage. I am into Digital Scrapbooking, photography, journaling, Art Journaling and Drawing. I am a do-it-yourselfer and I am trying to teach myself to draw. I am finding that it takes a lot of patience, lots of practice and a good eraser!
