idk…..i don’t know

idk

What am I going to do with these all these letters?

idk....I don’t know!! That’s text talk! Speaking of which , the more I keep texting family and friends the harder it is for me to write NORMAL emails to ppl people (especially at work). I have to stop myself from using a “u” for “you” and a “ur” for "your"! But don’t you just love the simplicity? Less key strokes! I’m always up for less keystrokes!

I digress…..The question is: What am I going to do with all these letters? idk…Sure don’t….and does it really matter? The little entrepreneur in me says, sell them, make money, push them. But I figure things will come together as they should. I enjoy doodling, coloring and just playing with these shapes. So, really that’s enough for now.

I could also be asking myself….. What am I going to do with all these moleskines? Ha!!

I’ve just started a fifth, Moleskine that is!! They are the BEST!! But let me clarify that, I only buy the watercolor moleskines. If you’re a sketcher you wouldn’t need the watercolor version. But us marker ppl people we’ve got to have some weight to the paper, or else! Or else, it gets pretty ugly, pretty fast with the bleed thru, ruining 1-2 pages underneath. Ugh!

This project should really be done by now!! I feel kinda bad for neglecting it! If you can remember from this post, that I need to put something on the wall above the couch. So, this was my decision! I haven’t touched it since I finished stitching the tulip! Must get it in gear here! Really!

Is anyone else wondering what your gonna do with your projects/ art?

Charity Cardinal……..done!

I talked about this back in January in this post. My son has an auction for his university/fraternity in April. He’s one of the organizers, so when he gets excited about something, well….. then I get excited about it, too. He’s a contagious sort of kid young man.

I was unsure of what I wanted to do with my embroidered cardinal. I was thinking I’d make a little quilt, for a small bed or even a wall-hanging. Well, before I knew it…. January turned into February, and I hadn’t done anything with the quilt. Stuck, i was. And then project avoidance set in due to my indecision. I finally just settled on stapling the Cardinal quilt to a 24 x 24 artist’s Canvas Board. The nice thing about this option is I don’t have to actually quilt anything…..I can just do quilt tops, which is what I like to make anyway!! Only wish I knew then what I would end of doing cuz I would’ve sized up my squares for that dimension….. Ahhhh, c’est la vie!

If I can pull it off, I’ll embroider another cardinal and do another one similar to this by April 18th. Heck, I’ve got material left, even some squared rows! We’ll see……

As you can see from this picture, the way I stapled this piece to the board has made a little sway in my fabric! Ugh, must try and remedy. If any of you have any suggestions as to unswaying the left side, please post! I’m thinking I should dampen it and adjust it wet, but I don’t want to induce any wrinkles either!!

Cardinal Embroidery

Do you remember my son (the one i’m imposing on, by taking over his bedroom while he’s at college). Well, he joined a Fraternity his Freshman year, he’s a Junior now. Apparently the Fraternity was trying to turn itself around and it’s ‘07 mission statement was the “Healthy Rounded Man (or something like that) Fraternity”. You had to be there when he said these words to us, i was so biting my lip to stop from giggling. Apparently they had to purge the bad (party) kids, and get good kids, then make some money thru charities to support themselves or this Frat was going to get axed from the school.

They started to get involved in some local charity events, they participated in the Greek intramurals and have even done carpentry/House maintenance on their condemned Frat house (which no one lives in, thankfully). Each year they have a Charity event for gaining funds for their fraternity. Usually he tells me a week in advance and wants me to whip up something to auction off. Sure no problem…eh-huh!! The first year I donated a bunch of fleece hats made with the school fleece, similar to the one below.

The following year I made pillow cases like these below.

I’ve always told him I could make something better if he just gave me more NOTICE! This year he blew me away. He told me at Thanksgiving that he’d like me to make something for the April Auction. That’s one, two, thr… FIVE months in advance. Well, with Christmas and the holidays I didn’t get a chance to work on a thing. I had an idea though!! I wanted to hand embroider his mascot then make a small quilt, like a wall hanging or lap quilt to auction off.

Here’s what I have so far.

My material, look closely the red and the yellow have a little branching pattern that I thought would give it some texture.

I don’t know what I’d do without my DMC floss! Works great when trying to match up colors. Much better than spools of thread and cheaper too!!

Finished this today! Yeah! Now, I’ve gotta go over and browse some flickr quilting groups for inspiration. I want the Cardinal as the main focus and work around him. These weren’t hard to make, I may have to do another cardinal or two.

Off for inspiration! Thanks for stopping by :)

About Me

My photo
By day...I work in the Healthcare field, where every .. i.. has to be dotted and every ..t.. has to be crossed. This blog is the place where I can let myself go and have some fun. I am on a journey. A journey I started a long time ago, but it has been a bit sidetracked with Navy Wife relocations and raising kids. I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and I have got some time for me. No, I will not be one of those moms walking around the house with Empty Nest Syndrome, I have got way too much to do, to learn, to create. Sure, once the kids are gone I will miss them....but hey, there is always the phone, the email, the texting and the Plane tickets! I love my life and my family and It is fun moving into this new stage. I am into Digital Scrapbooking, photography, journaling, Art Journaling and Drawing. I am a do-it-yourselfer and I am trying to teach myself to draw. I am finding that it takes a lot of patience, lots of practice and a good eraser!
