Doodle Directory Giveaway

Promo

I am so excited to share this with you.  I haven’t worked on my doodle directory in a few years. Recently I finished another 60 doodle images that make the 6th set in my doodle directory series. I've done a few simple drawings in this set which I haven't included in previous sets.

I’ll show you a little behind the scenes drawing as these doodles came together.

If you’ve been following my Instagram account then you’ve probably seen these before.

But it’s fun to revisit them here.

IMG_20140825_084537

I find that as I’m working on my bigger projects like my Ballerina and Diver and since I can’t (or won’t) lug these drawings to work or on vacation. That doodling in my small moleskine, keeps me sane and happy.  My hand still gets line practice and my head stays in the game with colors and shapes.  And as far as my drawing goes…..doodling has definitely helped…..hands down Smile

I am influenced by so many artists out there.  And half of them probably don’t even claim the label “Artist”.

IMG_20140915_164718

I’ve seen a ton of wonderful doodle work on Instagram, by fellow doodlers, illustrators, painters, watercolorists, art journallers, and zentangle people.

IMG_20141026_160227

So much inspiration!!  Instagram has a whole community of artsy-doodley interactive and like minded folks.

Artists are a sensitive lot….but we have to get over that and show our work.  I’m not one for “closet artistry”.   It’s amazing the motivation and suggestions that people give from blog post feedback and instagram sharing.

I’ve worked more in photoshop on this last set.  I wanted the colors more consistent.

Photo-editing is a must if you want to put these kind of things up for sale.

Small….Random….Projects

Ran1

Even though I haven’t been posting much here….I’m still infatuated with color!!

Ran2

So, I started on more Doodles for my Doodle Directory prints.

Ran4

My 5 x 8 moleskines are perfect for sectioning off 8 squares and then taking this with me anywhere.

Since I’m still pretty unsure of myself with watercolors…..

Ran6

A small floral project wasn’t too intimidating.

Ran7

Seeing so many interesting people doing yoga over on instagram these days…..this inspired me to sketch this pose from @day1yoga….(I really wanted to do a graphite sketch, but unfortunately I didn’t have all my graphite pencils or my blending stumps!)

Ran8

So….I adapted.

Ran10

And since I was adapting, I might as well play some too!!  Here Life is Imitating Art!!  Haha Smile

IMG_20140720_085654

And, since I’m into bracelets too, I scored this hamsa bracelet at 65% off recently!!  Thought it went well with my drawing Smile

Ran9

Even doodled a bit in my baby moleskine (3 x 5).

Well, there you have it!  Although small….they each served a purpose!! Anyone else leaning toward smaller projects these days?

Doodle Directory….Set 5

I completed Set 4 three months ago.  Wow!  That means this group of ten prints took me as long to complete.  Well, I must confess, I didn’t really work on it much, just between projects and all.

Lots of pictures coming, be FOREWARNED.  Above is print 41.

Next, Print 42.

Here’s 43….

Then there’s 44….

And now Print 45….

Can’t leave out #46.

Some of my favorite designs here in Print 47.

Some visual interest in #48.

#49….the monitor in the background definitely did not hold its true colors in this picture.

And last…but not least….Number 50!

These will be available in my etsy shop as soon as I get my act together.  I’ll let you know.

Doodle Directory Set 4

  Instructions

I just finished Set 4 of my Doodle Directory.  I’ve got them all printed out and ready to go!  I made up a couple little IDEA prints to go out with anyone that orders a set.  Hopefully this will be just what is needed to kick start your doodling!  Because we all know what it feels like to sit there….finally have some time to play….and stare at an empty page.  Yep, been there before!

image

These are so addictive to make and use…. really!  I can’t help myself but to color them in.  I’m growing quite used to these 4x6 index prints.  They are great for you “Grab-n-Go” types.  I’ve spent many an hour (or 2,3,4) at a sporting event or in a car pool line, and sometimes my brain is done reading!  You see….I’m not the best person at dealing with boredom!  I can’t stand it and it can’t stand me!!  Feelings are mutual!  The best thing about these prints are, I don’t have to be plugged in, powered up, or pilfering thru a design book to find inspiration!  They fit right inside the pocket of my 5x8 moleskine.  So, I always have them with me.  Bliss!

Oh, before I forget…..I’m running a sale….25% off the prints….So that breaks down to:

Pricing List:
  • 1 Set-   $8.99  (10 prints)    SALE $6.74
  • 2 Sets- $14.99  (20 printsSALE $11.24
  • 3 Sets- $18.99  (30 printsSALE $14.24
  • 4 Sets- $21.99  (40 prints)  SALE $16.49
*price does not include shipping

Just remember to use code DOODLE25.  Code will expire March 1.

Still at it….

image

I’m about half-way thru with set 4 of the Doodle Directory….it’s getting a little complicated, because I don’t want to repeat any previous patterns…..it is amazing how just one or two different line additions can change the whole look of a pattern.

image

When doodle directory inspiration is asleep.  I'll work on my alphabet.

image

My absolute favorite part of doodling is when it’s in this stage…..roughed in….not colored in all the way.  It’s here that I have to force myself to not just grab my favorite colors to work with…and try to work with other color combos…and sometimes I’m pleasantly surprised!

image

Since the Sharpies and the Bic’s are all waterproof and permanent….I thought it would be fun to actually draw on cotton…..Have to use my widest nib markers here because that cotton is real thirsty.

image

This is very s.l.o.w……going…..That cotton likes to wiggle as I apply the ink…Ugh!!  Possibly I just need to actually use “fabric-friendly” markers…..but I don’t want that pudgy stuff or shiny ink.  I do like the way this looks once dried.

For some further encouragement to “try this at home”, you’ve got to check out this lady- Alisa Burke and see what she does with fabric design.  I think I found who I want to be when I grow up! LOL!

Have you tried decorating clothes?  What’s your experience?  Is there a good brand of fabric markers that I should consider?  …..do tell…… :)

About Me

My photo
By day...I work in the Healthcare field, where every .. i.. has to be dotted and every ..t.. has to be crossed. This blog is the place where I can let myself go and have some fun. I am on a journey. A journey I started a long time ago, but it has been a bit sidetracked with Navy Wife relocations and raising kids. I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel and I have got some time for me. No, I will not be one of those moms walking around the house with Empty Nest Syndrome, I have got way too much to do, to learn, to create. Sure, once the kids are gone I will miss them....but hey, there is always the phone, the email, the texting and the Plane tickets! I love my life and my family and It is fun moving into this new stage. I am into Digital Scrapbooking, photography, journaling, Art Journaling and Drawing. I am a do-it-yourselfer and I am trying to teach myself to draw. I am finding that it takes a lot of patience, lots of practice and a good eraser! And if you're really curious there's a 3 part Interview by Eileen: HERE All the best, Eden
