My Santa started out like this….really quite ordinary….and yes, a little boring!
Oops! Actually, here is the bare-bones Santa…..this is how he really started. If you’d like to color him in, you can download the drawing HERE. I’d love to see your finished version, please come back and leave your link below.
It was fun to add some patterns to his clothes!! A little ‘tangle here and a little tangle there!! I miss my markers when I’m sketching, what can I say?
Sam the Singing Santa…..He plays this role every single year…..Wouldn’t miss it, even if you paid him to stay away. He is the jolliest one in his family, that’s why he gets to wear the outfit. His younger cousins absolutely couldn’t believe their sleepy little eyes when they saw him that first Christmas morning. They were completely shocked when he’d pull out the very toy they had written on their list which was mailed to the North Pole….There was just one older cousin that thought he sounded awfully familiar.
My next big challenge is to get this house decorated in time for Christmas. Click HERE to see how I did it last year. May change things up a bit, which makes it more interesting!
I have a confession: I’m finding that I don’t enjoy decorating the tree like I used to…. I’m a little bored with it….but I love pulling out and decorating with all the other Holiday knick-knacks!! Now, those are FUN!! How about you?
I love your Christmas decorations AND this jolly Santa. I was not excited to decorate this year because we will be all alone for Christmas. Then, my bridge club was coming over last night and I decided "got to have the candles in the window". Once I got started, I was putting the Christmas songs on the IPOD, the tree was up, popcorn and cranberry strung. Christmas Cards purchased. I am totally in the mood. Each ornament on our tree holds a special memory. One of my very favorite is from 2001, a Clean Christmas Bulb with a handpainted snowman. Now who could that be from?
ReplyDeleteThis is the Santa I want to visit my house! ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm so-so with the tree decorating. Lately, my parents have taken it over, and they do it with my five year old, so I get to take care of other stuff which I prefer to do. I don't much like wrapping gifts, though.
I love your santa bird all the tangles are fantastic. I think I may have a try at this one too. The tree does get old, I end up doing it myself now but try to have a nice moment with each ornament. I remember when we got it or who made it or gave it to me and I think fondly of them. Otherwise the tree becomes just one more chore to do. Wishing you a grand time decorating.
ReplyDeletehee hee....you always make everything SO much fun, eden!!! i just love this santa outfit......i want one for myself (it would definitely take the monotony out of grocery shopping, don't you think?!). have fun decorating your house.....i loved what you did last year with your wonderful nutcracker collection and that santa quilt is precious!!! xoxo, :))
ReplyDeleteOMG, this Santa Bird is absolutely fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you about the tree. I love doing all the other decorations but the tree is such a chore. Its still up in the air as to whether i will put it up this year. No little kiddies you know. Love your Santa Birdie! deb
ReplyDeleteYou really jazzed that Santa up for Christmas, Eden...great job!
ReplyDeleteI'm the same with the tree...I'm finding it particularly hard to get into the Christmas spirit this year with my daughter's baby being due on the 21st. My life has been wrapped up with baby things instead.
Did you make the quilt? I ask because I made my very first cot quilt last week for the baby's nursery.
I adore all of your birdy characters! Lov'n' those shades and fancy pants! We have been tree-less for four years (since we moved from away from the midwest). Our apartment is teeny, but we are now sporting a 14 inch (table top) tree!
ReplyDeletewow Eden! you blow my mind with the detail you add! his pants alone are amazing (and would take so much time and patience!)
ReplyDeletere: decorating... I do like putting lights up and I find that I enjoy decorating most if it involves creating. I enjoy making a new garland, colouring new pictures to put on the wall etc a lot more than taking out things from previous years and hanging them up.
oops p.s. I don't do a tree - first due to health reactions to it, then due to naughty cats, then I realised that even if I hadn't the cats, I probably wouldn't bother with the tree now! I am in the process of making a wall hanging tree of fabric with little loops to hang decorations from.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your nice comments and sympathies about tree decorating :)
ReplyDelete@Serena- yep made the quilt! Good you made your first quilt on a smaller size because it can get quite overwhelming! Small is very do-able!!
i adore your santa bird!!!
ReplyDeletehis chirpy patterns & presence
